Biography
 
Ms. Dumais began her teaching career at Rickover Naval Academy after graduating from Northwestern University in 2009 with a degree in Education, Mathematics, and History. The first four years of her career, she taught both history and mathematics. Before becoming a permanent member of the social studies department, Ms. Dumais taught all levels of Algebra, all levels of Geometry, U.S. History 1, and all levels of World Studies. Currently, she teaches AP U.S. History and World Studies. Ms. Dumais is also the Head of the Social Studies Department.

Outside of the classroom, Ms. Dumais runs the yearly Wrap and Read event which helps donate 1,000+ books to needy children in the Edgewater community during the holiday season. She is also the creator of the annual Rickover Naval Academy Winston S. Churchill Excellence in History competition. Ms. Dumais' desire to partner with the Churchill Centre for this competition has opened many doors including a National Endowment in the Humanities Scholarship for a program abroad in England and a full scholarship from Normandy Allies to visit Normandy, France. She is also the head coordinator of the yearly Junior and Senior Prom.

Ms. Dumais values education and professional development. In 2011, she earned her Master's degree in Curriculum and Education from American College of Education. In the spring of 2013, she earned her second Master's in Administration from the American College of Education. She now holds a type 75 administrative certificate.
    
Prior to teaching, Ms. Dumais was a Division 1 full scholarship athlete. During her seventeen years as a diver, she competed on a junior, senior, and international level. Although she is not plunging off the platform anymore, she continues to perform as a ballroom and ballet dancer.
