Sophomore Grade-level Team

Make Sophomore Year the Best Year! Do MORE!

Keep those grades up! There are many early college and tech school opportunities for seniors who have at least a 3.0 GPA. Sophomore grades count for 1/3 of that GPA considering students will be  apply for those programs at the end of their junior year.
Explore careers! Take advantage of online career-search and opportunities for internships.  Students can speak with their counselors.
Take the right courses!  Make sure students have prerequisites met for AP classes they want to take next year.  Scoring high on an AP exam can save them time and money in college by earning college credit for the course.
Get involved! Not every student is into sports. But that doesn't mean that they can't get involved with Rickover.  Students have many opportunities to join clubs like Student Voice or Yearbook.  Drill Teams in the fall or participate in Sailing!  When kids have school spirit, they perform better as students!
Try an internship!  Did you know your student can try working at a career area before they  ever leave high school?  It’s called an internship, and it allows students to see what the job is like.  Summer is a great time to get an internship.  Some internships qualify you for a scholarship.  Some turn into a future job, if you impress the people you intern with.
