Fine Arts Department

Our Mission
The Department of Fine Arts teaches artistic literacy skills with the intention of preparing our graduates for a lifetime of creative activity. We help students develop into critical thinkers, creative problem solvers, compassionate human beings and life-long learners. These qualities will not only ensure success in education, but also promote art advocacy and the foundation for fulfilling a culturally enriched life.
Our Goals
A key objective of the Fine Art Department is to encourage our students to produce work to which they have made a commitment, to value that commitment, and to understand that their art should change the artist, musician, thespian, and viewer alike.

"Teaching is a second career for me. I worked previously as a corporate trainer and realized I had a gift for teaching. I then decided to combine my two passions into a career. I enjoy particularly working with high school students in developing their artistic voice."   Mr. Henry became a teacher "to have an opportunity to improve urban music education and Chicago community culture."
