Commissioning a new navy vessel is an important ceremony that goes back to the beginning of our country's navy. This is when the ship moves from the shipyard that built her to the Navy that will sail her.
Please find the link below to learn more about the USS Rickover and even become a supporter of the USS HYMAN G. RICKOVER (SSN- 795) Commissioning Committee if you choose. The USS HYMAN G. RICKOVER (SSN-795) is a Virginia Class Submarine and critical part of the Silent Service currently being built in Groton, CT. The Commissioning Committee has the privilege of providing civilian support to the RICKOVER and her crew as the boat begins service in defense of our nation, and of honoring the legacy of Admiral Hyman G. Rickover. Participating in the commissioning of the RICKOVER gives us all a chance as civilians to support our national defense, and those individuals who provide that defense.
The Hyman G. Rickover Naval Academy is very proud of the relationship with the USS HYMAN G. RICKOVER (SSN-795) in which we share the same namesake. Please click below to learn more about the Submarine and Commissioning.
